In the midst of continuous speculation about mass promotion in schools, on Wednesday, Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama once again said that there is no idea about mass promotion. Whenever schools open, examinations will be taken.

On the ongoing speculation about the mass promotion, Chudasama said that the rumors going on are baseless. The syllabus will be taken only from the syllabus that will be run. Presently, due to Corona epidemic, online studies are being conducted all over Gujarat. For a few days, such headlines were going on, except for class 10 and 12 examinations, students of other classes would be given mass promotion, but Education Minister Chudasama put a stop to these headlines saying that there is no idea about mass promotion at present.

Significantly, the Gujarat government had decided to reopen schools from November 23, but after the Diwali festival, cases of corona infection continued to increase across Gujarat. Due to this, the state government has postponed the decision to open the school indefinitely. Currently, classes are being taught online.

The exams will be based on the online syllabus taught. The government has refused to give mass promotion in primary schools. Reports for mass promotions came in the media that primary schools in the state have not yet started physically amidst the Corona riots. However, the state government clarified that it had no plans to give mass promotions to students due to the epidemic. State Education Minister Chudasama said, "Examinations will be held before promoting students in the next academic class."

He further said, 'Std. Students of 1st to 8th and 9th as well as 11th standard will be examined and their examinations will be based on the online syllabus taught by the schools. "If the entire syllabus could not be taught online due to the Covid-19  in this epidemic year, then this syllabus will be taken on the basis of the number of syllabus taught to the all standard students,"Honorable Chudasama told our correspondent in The Times of India.

While the third option is online exam. Which is that the least likely option as students in rural areas have very limited smartphone and computer facility through which they will take the exam online. Bharat Gajipara, president of the Gujarat Self-Financed School Management Association, said the exams must be taken to form what's taught online meaningful. "If we can give mass promotions to students, then the all the credibility of online education are going to be questioned," he said.

On behalf of the parents of the students, the All Gujarat Board of Guardians demanded that mass promotion be given to the students as the schools were physically closed during the core period. He argued that it might not be appropriate to require the exam as online learning was very limited in rural areas. While the government believes that all the options should be considered in opening school and before making any decision.

School management, on the other hand, has increased pressure on the state government to reopen schools as many parents have refused to pay fees as the schools are not physically open. The school trustees said, "All parents are going to be encouraged to pay fees if schools start. Corona has caused a lot of damage to schools.
